Altaira is a very practical person, her mind works faster when she is doing something. This is why she can never plan a mission beforehand but makes it up as she goes along. She is also very persistent person, so small slip ups don't put her off her target, nor do they infuriate her.

History: Her mother, Amunet, grew up in Dracis in wealthy family due to their links with the Sanctuary of Anubis, and so never knew what hardships life brought to others. At the age of 15 she was sent to the Sanctuary of Anubis on the outskirts of the city to train as a Priestess of Anubis, as it was a family tradition that the eldest daughter was sent to become a Priestess. At the age of 20 she met a man who was looking for shelter near the docks, and so she welcomed him into her home. He stayed for 3 months; but he disappeared before she knew she was expecting. She had twins: Abasi and Altaira, and raised them with the aid of her brother, Seth, who was an Assassin.
As the children grew older he started teaching Abasi to wield a blade, and after being caught practising with a bow and arrow, also trained Altaira, though he did not approve of a woman being taught to kill.
At age 12 Altaira first realized she could change into the form of a Jackal. It scared her, as she knew neither her mother, uncle or her grandparents could change into an animal, so she kept it hidden from them. Though once she realised that Abasi too could change into an animal, she was less afraid of what her mother would think. Once it was known what he was, however, it made people respect her. This, along with their links to Anubis' Sanctuary, made people believe that she was chosen by Anubis himself to follow in his footsteps.
When the twins were 14 they decided that they wanted to follow in their uncle's footsteps and become Assassins, which their uncle Seth understood and so he became their Master.
Altaira was infuriated when she found out that she had to leave her family to become a Priestess, as she wanted to join her brother in training. However, she accepted the position as she understood that it was tradition and that it was expected of her; she also couldn't bare the idea that her mother would be disappointed in her. On her 15th Birthday she went to the Sanctuary and began her training.
The letters that she received from her mother during the next 3 years agitated her as they mostly described how proud her mother was of Abasi and how well he was doing with his training.
Finally, after 3 years separated from her family, she was allowed to leave as a Priestess of Anubis. She returned to her training at once, despite the fact that her brother was already a fully trained Assassin.
She soon caught up with her training and was rewarded with her first mission as an Assassin at age 19.
Despite not knowing a lot about him, Altaira wants to be able to travel one day to go in search of him; though she doubts whether she will be successful as all she knows about him is that he came from the Olympian district of Olympus.
