Alicantian Culture
Religion:
In Alicantis they believe in 5 deities:
- Thren: King of the Gods, God of the Earth
- Ferya: Queen of the Gods, Goddess of the Sky
- Belron: God of the Sea, son of Ferya & Thren
- Hesh: God of the Dead, son of Ferya & Thren
- Kell: Goddess of Nature, animals and the wild; daughter of Ferya and Thren
They all play a major role in day to day life as there are temples dedicated to each of them in all cities and villages. There is a festival held in their honour, one for each god per year (5 festivals a year); all of which are different depending on which god they are honouring, e.g: Thren’s festivals have a lot to do with mountains and crops.
Education:
Both boys and girls are educated until age 16, at which point they can decide for themselves what they wish to do. Boys’ education tends to contain more male orientated things, such as swordplay and sport; while girls’ are more centred on more homely activities. This, however, does not stop a woman joining the military or a boy becoming a chef.
Math, foreign languages, history and sciences are all main subjects taught; smaller subjects are also taught to both boys and girls such as basic cooking skills, music and basic self defence.
Clothing:
Furs are common. The year round cool and cold weather means that there is little else you can wear, particularly in the wintertime when anything less than three layers of fur will leave you shivering and at risk of hypothermia.
In the summer fur is not necessary. The weather is not blazing hot nor freezing, but just cool enough to walk around in a t-shirt and trousers. Women usually wear fairly thin dresses in the summer, though it is not uncommon to find them in shirts and trousers.
Other:
To the East of Alicantis is a village which consists mainly of Lycanthropes. They do, in general, follow the Gods of the country they come from (which is mostly Alicantis, though Lycanthropes from other countries are welcomed). They tend to live the 'Hunter/Gatherer' life-style.
