Arrowpactian Culture
[/u]Religion: The majority of those in Arrowpact do not believe there are any gods. They tend to believe in luck and fate/ Some keep idols or worship invisible gods. Though to build of temples is permitted, it is not funded by the state.
Education: Boys are sent to school from the ages 7 onwards if their parents can spare them at home. They are taught how to read, write and do basic arithmetic. On top of this they are taught skills which can be used later in life. (e.g If the child was from a farming family, they would be taught about different soils, pests etc.) The state encourages boys to attend school by paying for their education up to the age of 16.
Girls are also allowed to attend school, but it is uncommon. Parents must pay for the child's education. Girls are only allowed to attend up to the age of 16. The price of an education for a girl is very costly.
Superstitions:
- To see a black cat is lucky. To be touched by one is not.
- The 4th day of the month is considered to be unlucky. Some people believe that if a child is born on the 4th day of the 4th week of the 4th month, they are cursed and will bring misfortune upon themselves, their family and their acquaintances.
- If a corpse is not removed after 24 hours, the person's spirit will remain in your household for the 40 years, during which time all who live there will die as they did.
People tend to have other superstitions significant to their family and depending on where they live in Arrowpact.
Dress: For both men and women it is considered fashionable to wear bright colours. Brightly coloured fabrics tend to be expensive, meaning they tend to be worn by the richer people in society.
It is considered rude and immodest for a women to show either her shoulders or her ankles. Some people believe that women should cover their arms entirely. Women are not typically allowed to wear mens clothing. Those who do (and are caught doing so) are often shunned.
Most poorer men wear full length trousers and tunics that go only a few centemetres below the hips. Longer tunics are expensive and therefore only worn among the richer society. Some men wear decorated belts and rapiers to more formal occasions.
